Prince William Set to Attend COP30 Climate Summit in South America

Prince William is scheduled to attend the United Nations climate conference in South America next month, as announced by palace sources.

The father and son duo appeared together on Thursday night at a gathering leading up to the climate summit, which is set to be held in the Amazonian city of Belem.

The royal pair were participating in the scientific institution event, marking an unusual joint appearance at a pre-COP30 gathering co-hosted by the UK government.

Climate Leadership Commitment

King Charles has been a consistent supporter of biodiversity preservation - and the Prince of Wales has taken on the baton, with his own environmental prize initiative, which will be held in Brazil ahead of the climate conference.

Official representatives have described the Prince's participation at the upcoming climate summit as taking on an crucial position in "global climate discussions".

Recent Engagements

The monarch and his heir, arriving together in the official car, were introduced to attendees such as environmentalists, scientists, environmental activists, foreign representatives and politicians.

This participation involved presentations in concert with French leader Macron of France and other global statesmen at the Ocean Finance Summit in Monaco in recent months.

Environmental Prize Link

The UN meeting will align with the prince's own climate innovation prizes, which will finish in the Brazilian city the previous day he joins the climate conference on 6 November.

In recent days the William characterized the prize competitors as "heroes of our time".

Monarch's Environmental Record

King Charles has been a prominent presence at earlier environmental conferences, giving the opening address in the United Arab Emirates for the 28th Conference of Parties, including the statement: "We are custodians of the planet, not its owners".

"For decades I've committed a large proportion of my life trying to alert people to the existential threats facing us over planetary heating, climate change and ecological decline," the sovereign addressed attendees.
