19 of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hardcourt

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his first trophy for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a difficult period, managing just one match at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in particular - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.

Currently training with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Moutet.

It is his initial trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court from spring of the previous year.

Success also signifies Medvedev has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one various competitions.

"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my children at once, so to win a championship is especially meaningful," commented ranked player the champion.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I won when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his past six finals, comprising in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving play style and regular reactions on court had prompted commentators to question if his capacity to compete at the top level was concluded.

Yet the player has altered his approach in the past month, striving to approach the net and perform aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult opponent, securing four of the final five games to gain the advantage.

Both players exchanged breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first tour title, seized the initiative to push for a decider.

He saved 4 early-game opportunities in a close deciding set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to close out the victory.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured the win with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
